Nottingham

Nottingham, Hauptstadt der eben so benannten Grafschaft in England, liegt mälerisch auf einer Anhöhe am Trent, und hat 42,000 Ew. Hier werden durch mehr als 4000 Weber die besten englischen Strumpfwaaren fabricirt; auch blüht die Handschuh- und Spitzenweberei. Die Stadt besitzt ein hübsches Theater, Börse, Rathhaus (von dorischen Säulen getragener prachtvoller Palast) etc. In der Nähe finden sich viele in Sandsteinfelsen gehauene Druidenhöhlen.
