Convent nach dem Lateinischen Zusammenkunft, Versammlung. In früherer Zeit die Senats- oder Volksversammlung an Gerichtstagen. Ferner die Zusammenkunft oder die Gesammtheit der Mönche und Nonnen in einem Kloster; daher Convent auch für Kloster.
